Renewal Fees

There is a renewal fee this year from November 1- January 31. Any renewal received after January 31 there will be a late fee.

Physical Therapist fee is $100.
Physical Therapist Assistant fee is $60.

Late Renewals

Online renewal must be completed by January 31st of the current year. After January 31st an additional $50.00 late fee will be assessed.

Renewal Requirements

Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants must participate in continuing competence activities accumulating at least 25 contact units every 2 years.
New graduates are exempt from reporting continuing education units for the period following graduation.
If you have had either a name, address, or email change you may update the information during the renewal.
Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants must complete the MDS Survey.

Make sure to have the following information before you begin the online renewal process:

Your last name as it appears on record with the Board (If you need to verify, please click here to look up that information.);
Your social security number;
Your PT/PTA license number (If your license number is 3 digits, please add a preceding zero. For example, if your license number is 211, type 0211.);
A current Visa or MasterCard account;
The expiration date of the Visa or MasterCard account.
Your CC activity for the previous 2 years.

All information entered will be encrypted, so your data will be transmitted safely and securely.

Continuing Education

25 hours of continuing competence is required every two years on a calendar year (e.g. January 1, 2024-December 31, 2025). Reporting of continuing competence coincides with the last digit of your license number and the renewal year.

Last digit of physical therapy license is even, licensees will report during even renewal year (upcoming calendar year)
E.g. License number 1986; report during even renewal year (2026); License number 1987; report during odd renewal year (2027)

Renewals open November 1 of the preceding year.

Please note the MDS Survey is required to be completed before you may renew your license. Here is the link to the survey. Please do not take the survey more than once.

Pursuant to Section 43-26.1-08 of the ND Century Code, it is necessary for all physical therapists who are licensed in the State of ND to renew their license no later than January 31st of each year. If your facility requires you to have your renewed license by December 31st, please submit your renewal no later than December 21st.
